SHSI launches 13 new clubs
This school year 2020-2021, South Hill School, Inc. launched a number of 13 clubs for the first time in history. Taking advantage of the cyber platform that the school is currently using to perform school activities, the launching of wide varieties of clubs were implemented. Adhering to the school’s aim for socialization, different clubs were administered to accommodate the diverse interests of students, whether it may be for fun or academic. All students were required to join at least one club, with a maximum of three. Once a week, students are given time to attend their chosen clubs to socialize and mingle over similar interests.
The students had a variety of choices of clubs they were interested to join in. Students were able to join clubs such as the Cooking or Baking club where students are taught how to cook and bake at the comfort of their homes and the K-drama club where students and teachers tackle their interest in the different industries of Korea.
There were also clubs that centered in the field of arts such as the Arts and Crafts club where students were taught handy and craft skills, as well as the Photography and Digital Arts club where students were able to enhance their digital skills. A Drama and Performance club is also part of the variety of clubs students can choose from. This club centers on the enhancement of the student’s skills and talents in performance.
Since digital games are the common leisure activities as of today, the Gaming and Robotics club was made. This club allows students with the same interest in gaming to interact with one another, sharing their favorite games and playing with one another. Aiming to continuously help the environment, an Environmental club was also made to help students be more aware and hands-on to their environment, helping them improve their green thumb. An academic club was also formed, the Math club, which was created to help students aspiring to improve their skills in math.
Other originally present clubs were also part of the lists, clubs like Highlights or the school news team; the International Relations club, formally known as the school’s Model UN; the Student Government; and Sports and Varsity. Through these clubs, the students are able to express their skills and strengths. Activities and meetings within these clubs are done to enhance and improve their skills which may help in the future or even for enjoyment in the present.
Despite the challenges of distance learning, these clubs add some fun and productivity that suit the interests of each student. Even with the stress and tireful activities the students have to endure, clubs are there to destress and put the students into a fun and enthusiastic mood.
